A great way for DC Rotary Club members to give back is by helping with A Wider Circle’s Essential Support program. This program focuses on providing basic need items for the home to our neighbors seeking to rise out of poverty. The donations they receive include household furniture, linens, kitchen items, toys, and professional clothing and accessories. Volunteers help them to sort donations and stock the showrooms their clients select their items from. With the help of volunteer groups like us, A Wider Circle is able to furnish 20 homes free of charge each day for our neighbors in need.

How do you volunteer? Simply click the yellow “Members” button above, and you're ready to go!  We will register the DC Rotary Club team with A Wider Circle.

Their Essential Support Services, formerly known as Neighbor-to-Neighbor and Basic Needs Services, is A Wider Circle’s largest program. This program provides beds, dressers, tables, chairs, dishes, pots, pans, and other large and small home goods to families transitioning out of shelters, escaping domestic violence, or otherwise living without their basic need items.

Individuals and families call on their own or are referred to A Wider Circle by more than 300 government or nonprofit social service agencies, large and small. People have the opportunity to select the items they need, free of charge. Each year, A Wider Circle furnishes the homes of more than 4,000 families, helping to create the stability and dignity that everyone deserves.

The Rotary Foundation of Washington, DC (our Club's Foundation) supported this great organization last year with a small $2, 250 grant.
