President Abe Helal opened the meeting at 12:30 pm and requested everyone silence all cell phones.
 
President Helal led us all in the Pledge of Allegiance.
 
Secretary Nicole Butler called names of guests and visiting Rotarians.
 
Sergeant-at-Arms Sterling Hoffman then announced the birthdays and anniversaries.
 
President Helal made the following announcements:
  • December 9 is our holiday party. Save the date!
  • We are delaying the October 28 vineyard social event until spring 2018.
 
Bob Watson introduced the guest speaker, Kenneth Feinberg. Mr. Feinberg is an attorney who specializes in mediation and alternative dispute resolution. He founded his own law firm, The Feinberg Group, in Washington, DC. He is widely known for his work in deciding who gets what for losses suffered in high profile catastrophes, accidents and terrorism.
 
Following an engaging question and answer session, President Helal presented the tree certificate to the speaker.
 
President Helal made final announcements:
  • This Saturday the DuPont Circle Rotary Club is meeting to work on restoring the Anacostia River Wetlands, and they need volunteers. Visit the website to learn more and sign up.
  • We need two more volunteers for next Tuesday for Grate Patrol.
 
President Helal adjourned the weekly meeting with final remarks at 1:30 p.m.
