Each year, the Rotary Foundation of Washington DC awards more than $100,000 in grants to local DC community organizations. Apply today! Deadline is January 31, 2014.

The Rotary Club of Washington DC Community Service Grants Committee reviews applications for funding requests and makes recommendations for approval to the Foundation’s Board, which has final authority for approval.  Money is awarded to projects that demonstrate need for small capital items or “seed” money for special services that provide direct and tangible benefits principally within the District of Columbia.  The grant amounts usually range between $1,000--$5,000.

The Foundation has elected to include offers two grants for $20,000 each to fund two Special Projects.  This would expand the scope of funding from solely small programs and projects to funding two special larger projects.  Applicants can apply for a Special Grant as well as a smaller grant.  The larger projects will have to have long-term sustainability for the program in order to grow in future years.  They will also have to demonstrate an opportunity for Rotary members to volunteer and raise the profile of the organization and Rotary in the DC community.  The criteria will include those of the Community Grants but there will be additional criteria that can be found in the Special Foundation Grant application.  There will be two application forms on the website.  Only one grant will be awarded to any proposer and the Foundation reserves the right not to make any award.

In the process of considering your application, a representative of your organization may be invited to meet with the Grants Committee, or a Rotary representative may request an opportunity to visit your organization. These meetings, if required, will be held after the application deadline.  We anticipate that decisions will be made no later than April 30, 2013.  All decisions are final and may not be appealed. Decisions and invitations for successful applications to an awards luncheon will be conveyed to applicants at that time.
