Following a 25-year career as a U.S. Foreign Service Officer, Steve Liston joined Equifax, a global information solutions provider, in 2015 as Vice President for Global Government Relations. Steve devises and executes strategies for external stakeholder relations in 11 Latin American countries, working closely with local and corporate business, public relations, legal, and marketing units. He also provides guidance on government relations across Equifax’s Canadian, Asia-Pacific and European operations and on policy issues related to data protection, cybersecurity and financial inclusion.

As a diplomat, Steve served most recently in Santiago, Chile, where he was Deputy Chief of Mission and Chargé d’Affaires, overseeing an embassy of 300 employees and managing an active bilateral relationship. Previous overseas assignments were in Spain, Brazil, Peru, Sudan, and Mexico. He also held a number of positions at the State Department in Washington, D.C., mostly related to the Americas.

Born and raised in California, Steve graduated from the University of California, Berkeley with a BA in Political Economy and a minor in Spanish. He holds Master of Arts degrees in Law and Diplomacy from The Fletcher School at Tufts University in Boston and in Religion from Reformed Theological Seminary in Washington, D.C. In addition to his native English, Steve is fluent in Spanish and conversational in French and Portuguese. He serves on the boards of directors of the Pan-American Development Foundation and the Rotary Club of Washington, D.C. He is an alternate board member of the Chile-based Coaniquem center for burned children, a volunteer with The Christian Embassy in Washington, DC, and an elder at Fourth Presbyterian Church in Bethesda. Steve and his wife Susan have three children.
