Steve Hocker
Executive Director, Teens Run DC—Major Grant Recipient

A native Washingtonian, Mr. Hocker is the Executive Director 0f Teens Run DC. He came to TRDC after 25 successful years as the President and CEO of Special Olympics District of Columbia. During his long tenure with Special Olympics, he possessed a commitment to improving the lives of youths and adults with intellectual disabilities worldwide. He assisted in developing the first Special Olympics programs in the former Soviet Union and in seven Middle Eastern countries. Mr. Hocker also spent 18 years as a youth, high school, college, and professional basketball coach. His focus was never on the significance of winning games, but more importantly, on the shared values the team learned about life through their journey of a season together. He has always been passionate about the overall development of our young people's lives. He believes that with proper support, physical activity and a strong connection to others in your life, one can achieve anything. When Mr. Hocker takes time away from TRDC, you can find him taking long walks with his wife, Linda, and their dog, Riley. Other times are dedicated to their daughter, Lindsay, son-in-law, Jamie, grandchildren, JM and Jack, and son, Michael.
