The Rotaract Club is throwing a fundraiser on Thursday July 11 to benefit Stanton Elementary School. Stanton Elementary was the worst performing elementary school in the District and was under the threat of being closed. You can help!

Although instead of closing, DCPS contracted the Scholar Academies to manage the school 3 years ago. The staff are still all DCPS employees and still have the same Union rights while also serving the same students. The change has proven successful as just last year Stanton had the highest gains of all schools in Ward 8, doubling their literacy rate and tripling their math scores.

However, at original literacy and math rates of only 9% each there is still much work needed in improving the education and environment for the students of Stanton. Every year the Rotary and Rotaract Club help support Stanton through DC Schools Beautification Day and Rotaract thought it would be a good fit to supplement that physical work with monetary funds for the supplies and resources needed, many times supplied by the young, dedicated teachers.

Please join us at the One Lounge in Dupont Circle for a happy hour Fundraiser running from 6-10:30pm on Thursday July 11. The entrance admission is $15 and includes 1 drink & 1 raffle ticket. Additional drink tickets include a raffle ticket and are $10. Additional raffle tickets can be purchased solely without drink tickets as well. Raffle prizes include a yoga package, tickets to the National Geographic Museum, and more to be confirmed. Also all rsvp-ed guests will also receive a $20 offer promo code from Uber, the latest in upscale taxis, to get to or from the benefit.

What better way to celebrate the 101 birthday of the Rotary Club of Washington, DC! For more information or to rsvp please contact Kara Merrigan at president@rotaractdc.org.
