Special Grant Recipients

Central Union Mission   $20,000
With their grant, the Mission will purchase a used double-cab work truck to support the Ready to Work program, an 18-month rehabilitation, work training and employment program in the DC metropolitan area. The truck will be used to transport work teams, supplies and trash on work contracts, which employ homeless and formerly homeless men and women to clean Business Improvement Districts around the city, while teaching them strong work values, ethics and behaviors.

Hope and a Home   $20,000
Hope and a Home works to move families from homelessness into stable housing and to break the cycle of generational poverty plaguing families in the District. Our programs address the urgent needs of homeless families today while also taking a proactive approach to ending homelessness tomorrow. Hope and a Home will use funds to furnish its new Family Strengthening program space and purchase curriculum materials.
